Spray drying is a technique utilized in the food, pharmaceutical, pigment, and catalyst industries to produce small particles of controlled size. Atomized solution or slurry is introduced as a spray into a chamber. The chamber may be heated, or a heated carrier gas utilized in conjunction with the spray, or both. As the spray solvent evaporates, dry particles are left behind and collected. Such a process can be used for the production of porous particles, microencapsulated particles, hollow microspheres, and agglomerated "blackberry"-morphology particles. Particles can be single-composition or compound or composite composition.
Sonaer ultrasonics particle generators or nozzles may be used in spray drying systems. In addition, Sonaer can manufacture custom, "turn-key" spray drying systems with heated chamber, pumps, atomizer(s) or nebulizer(s), etc.
